Counting Down

All of a suddent the Summer is here and it's just a few weeks to go until gates open.

Final details will  be shown here on Monday July 21, but in the meantime here are a few updates.

The kids races are pre entry only this year so if you plan to enter an under 16 into the 12/24 minute races then you need to enter here, this so that we can get properly organised with number boards, medals and a timing system. With the support of Plymouth Youth Cycling  there will also be some skills sessions for kids 10 years and up, on the Saturday afternoon. For the grown ups entries are nearly closed 12/24 solos are full, as are 24 pairs. You can still enter pairs/teams in the 12 hour, teams in the 24 hour or plenty of solo Torchbearer spots left...but all entries will close on July 10 or when we're full....whichever is earlier, there are only about 20 entries left as of June 26.

The site will open on Thursday July 24 at 5pm and close on Monday July 28 at midday. If you have a glamping unit booked then it will be  available throughout the period. We currently have a 2 berth and 3x4 berths available for glamping.

We are still working through final course details as we always try and have an eye on the weather and a course that works for the baking sun or monsoon.... there will be no moorland section this year due to the mining activity now taking place at newnham. We will have Bluebell woods, bombholes to cottage return descent...which is sure to be most peoples favourite bit of track. We are looking at a crossover bridge to get all the best bits of newnham the best way round.

A few short answers.

Yes you can bring dogs (kept on a lead please)
Yes, there will be catering, hot showers, massage, bike wash, light charging, drinking water and lots of trackside camping.
No there is no bar...but Dartmoor Brewery will be there to keep you hydrated at certain points of the weekend.

Organiser's Diary
For a while there things weren't looking good. Numbers were down a little (after the monsoon of 2012), the cowboys and indians wanted our date, the venue is having a tungsten mine take some of the land and it felt like change would be good....but we genuinely don't think there is a better venue and we convinced Newnham that the date really was important and that there were more quality trails out there.
