Email update E-mail

Here is a copy of the email update incase any of you missed it.

Dear Twentyfour12 entrant
This email is sent to the paying entrant so you will need to distribute to your team/pair. (discount code included is available to each rider)
The event is now only 5 weeks away so time for an update and some more information. A final details email will be sent on July 19.

Camping
The Campsite will be open from Thursday July 22 at 1700 (gates locked at 2300). The campsite will close at 1200 on Monday July 26. Showers, toilets, drinking water, catering, bike shops (The Bike Cellar and Swinnerton’s) are all available on site...in fact everything you should need for the weekend will be on site (except beer). There are local shops, pubs, Chinese takeaway, fish and chips and a cashpoint all about 15 minutes walk away from the campsite. The site has no electric hook up and no bar. We have more trackside camping available this year and there will be a separate family camping area for a bit of peace and quiet.

The Course
We’ve had loads of emails about the course and we’re afraid we can’t reveal too many specifics. Last year things were changed a few days before the event (the weather had been rubbish) so we’re keeping our options open. The aim is to have an extended version of the much loved 2008 course but the section after the river crossing to the farm does not hold up well in the wet and means lots of changes to provide a more wet weather friendly route. There will be a Clif Climb...we’re just not sure if it has to be last year’s version...

Weldtite Workzone
This year Weldtite are supporting a work zone area with free 24 hour tech support throughout the race from a range of top quality mechanics and also the opportunity to fettle to your heart’s content with free access to Weldtite’s extensive tool selection.

For Goodness Shakes Chill Out
For Goodness Shakes will be providing a free recovery shake for all and will also be supporting the improved chill out area with free massage, Tour De France coverage on the tele, a For Goodness shakes bar and some surprises,  this will be a great place to hang out.

Exhibitors
Bontrager will have a full display of their product range. The Bike Cellar and Swinnerton’s will  both be in attendance offering a full range of products and some event deals. Exposure lights will have their new 2011 product range on display and will be providing a free light charging facility for all riders. Quaver catering will be the event caterer with a great range of healthy and not quite so healthy foods to keep you going. The Hope Sh1t Shifter man will be there running a free bikewash service all weekend. Torq will be bringing their team truck and will be selling their range of energy products. Clif Bar will be on site all weekend sampling their full range of products. They will also be providing a free Clif Bar to all competitors.

Team Names
Many of you have not included a team name for your pair/team. This info is needed for timing and identification so please check the entry lists and if incorrect supply one by July 1...or we will just make a boring one up for you.

Green Stuff
As some of you know we try to make the event a little greener where we can. For the 3rd year we will have full recycling facilities on site. The caterers are only using biodegradable cups/cutlery/crockery (they are still taking the free 2008 souvenir cups as well for 10p off). The event T-shirt will again be made from Organic Cotton. It’s not perfect but it’s progress! This year Clif Bar will be encouraging car share and will be offering prizes to the three best mile savers. So if you have to travel a long way but are sharing the journey and think you have produced the biggest mileage saving then let Clif Bar know at the event and they may have some goodies for you. There is a car share forum thread running here if you want to offer a lift or need one. Clif Bar are also supporting the Gel drop zones.

Entries and Category Changes
All entries will close on July 1 (or before if it’s full) right now there are about 30 course slots left for teams and a few 12 hour pairs. July 1st is also the deadline for category changes (if available)  or event withdrawals.  At this point we need to send the data to the timing company and finalise the order for a lot of the event logistics. Entry lists are here

That’s it. We hope preparation is going well and look forward to seeing you all in a few weeks

'...another fantastic event. I have done quite a few 12/24 hour races and... twentyfour12 is by far the best, layout and organisation is spot on and the course is always challenging with plenty of passing spots'

Keith's Diary

Wow. We’re up to number 5! With 1000+ riders, and the solo entries sold out! It’s very cool and rewarding to see this event progress.

Martyn and his staff have been working hard on the event this year too and have cooked up a few new things to keep things interesting. He’s mentioned some tweaks to the course, even more music (including an acoustic stage in an as yet undisclosed spot in the woods),some pro mechanics to help keep your bike running (and tools for those of you who want to do it yourself), and even more camping and showers.
